Methodology
- What does accelerated UV weathering show?
- Accelerated UV and moisture cycles are used to compress long-term sun-and-weather exposure into a shorter evaluation window. Applicable finishes may then be reviewed for changes in color, gloss, and surface condition.
- Why do gloss and color shift differently?
- Gloss reflects surface topology as the binder erodes; color reflects chromophore change in the pigment. A finish can hold color while the surface dulls, or hold gloss while the hue drifts, so both are worth reviewing.
